Our solution - How Heed works
A union of hardware and software
Heed provides an early warning system for potential overflow events. The solution comprises an in-ground beacon and head unit, and a server side UI and database.
The beacon hangs at a designated height inside an inspection shaft, using a braided stainless steel cable mounted at the top of the manhole. It is completely liquid and foul-proof, with no mechanical parts. Liquid is the beacon's only trigger, meaning no false or missed readings caused by solids.
The head unit is fixed to the underside of the manhole and scans for the beacon at custom defined intervals. If the beacon is fully submerged in liquid the head unit sends an alert to our cloud-based system and notifies your specified critical contacts, enabling them to take action.
Installation is is quick and easy, taking under 20 minutes from the surface, with no confined spaces entry required. You can find our installation guide here.
Hardware designed for reliability
We've worked with councils, engineers and manufacturers around New Zealand to design a robust, fit-for-purpose piece of kit that works in the most demanding conditions:
Custom enclosure validated in fluid to a depth of 5 metres for 10 days (above IP68 / NEMA 6P standard). Sensors are hermetically sealed.
Military grade batteries last 5 years on standard settings, with a simple swap out replacement. Battery chemistry is lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2).
Heed sensors are ready to go as soon as they switched on, using CatM1 / NB-IoT mobile networks to connect the unit to our server.
Maximise cost-efficiency and optimise your workflow by harnessing the power of our Heed-API. Our documented and professionally supported Restful JSON API enables seamless and uninhibited data integrations into various platforms, including data lakes, cloud servers, Power BI, and third-party providers. Server Side integration
Intuitive UI
We provide a clean and user-friendly interface that displays your units’ status and locations, and alerts you to events that require your attention. You can also access historic data to track trends and identify patterns.
Our system lets you automate custom email and text alerts that notify your key team members, enabling them to take action to prevent spills.
